The Village of New London water department is required by the Ohio EPA to conduct a backflow survey on all residential properties outside of the village limits and all commercial properties. A backflow is defined as the reversal of the direction in which water normally flows and can happen for many reasons. A cross connection between a potable water source and a non-potable water source can be very dangerous. Any well, cistern, or pond is considered to be a non potable source of water. If a backflow were to occur where there is a cross connection it can cause harmful contaminants to enter the village water distribution system and be distributed throughout the entire water system. To help eliminate backflow events from occurring you can install a backflow device in your home that is designed to stop a backflow event from happening on your property and helps to protect the village water distribution system and all customers that are apart of the distribution system. Our goal at the Village of New London is to provide the safest and cleanest drinking water possible for all of our customers.
